My name is Nadia Janjua. I am a living, thinking, feeling human being.
I am an artist.
One day after prayer, while I was making supplication, I became distracted
by my hands, and how multi-colored they were; these were the hands that
Allah had given me: dark under the nails, brown on the outside, white
on the inside, and a blended line of distinction down the profile of
my hand.
I thought of a line from a book I had recently read, written by Seyyed
Hossein Nasr,
............."The
world is both beyond us and within us."
...........................
The diversity of the world exists within all of us.
The
ability and potential to embrace this diversity also exists within all
of us.
And
what we can do with our hands to contribute to the nourishment of this
diversity is boundless, with Allah's will.
"And
there is the type of man who gives his life to earn the pleasure of
Allah; and Allah is full of kindness to his devotees." (Surah
Al Baqarah; Ayah 207)
